Vision Center Network of America signs supplier agreement with subsidiary of Abbott Medical Optics

Vision Center Network of America, a clinically integrated network with the aim of significantly improving the healthcare delivery system in the specialty area of ophthalmic surgery, entered into a Supplier Agreement with a subsidiary of Abbott Medical Optics or the purchase of monofocal and premium intra-ocular lenses as well as capital equipment on behalf of its member surgery centers.

The first of its kind between Vision Center Network and a major supplier of intra-ocular lenses, the Agreement allows Vision Center Network to track purchasing volume and patterns for each of its member surgery centers, specifically as it relates to cataract surgery. These data points will in turn provide transparency into actual cost per surgical case across each surgery center as well as individual surgeons for benchmarking purposes.

Jerome Levy, MD, president and chairman of the Board at Vision Center Network said, “We are delighted that Abbott Medical Optics has decided to enter into a contractual relationship with Vision Center Network. The supplier agreement that we structured is consistent with our overall mission to realize higher value (defined as quality divided by cost) in the healthcare system for patients, payers and providers regardless of a fee-for-service or fee-for-value reimbursement paradigm.”

Vision Center Network looks forward to a long, collaborative relationship with Abbott Medical Optics as Vision Center Network continues to develop its network across the U.S. and establish itself as the leader in providing cost-effective care to patients in the outpatient setting.
