Here’s what you should know:
1. Mid Dakota Clinic attempted to merge with another health system but those discussions fizzled out. The health system began talking to Sanford Health representatives in September 2016.
2. Sanford Health hopes to close the deal by July 1, barring any state or federal intervention.
3. Sanford Bismarck’s Executive Vice President Craig Lambrecht said the merger would allow the development of land in north Bismarck. He said the health system would accelerate developments for women’s, children’s, cancer, surgical, specialty procedure and trauma care.
4. The merger would introduce new services in reproductive medicine, urogynecology, pediatric endocrinology, neurology and gastroenterology.
