Tennessee Surgery Center adds two providers — 3 insights

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System is adding Daniel Robert Cronk, Jr., MD, and Rachel Newmyer, RN, to its Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center, the Times Free Press reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Dr. Cronk is a bariatric stapling specialist, who has performed more than 750 stapling procedures throughout his career.

2. Dr. Cronk began his career after earning his medical degree from the Lincoln-based University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Tacoma, Wash.-based Madigan Army Medical Center. He also served in the U.S. Army as a general and bariatric surgeon.

3. Ms. Newmyer was a surgical clinician and a coordinator with Chattanooga-based CHI Memorial’s surgical weight management program. She will assume a role as the center’s nurse navigator.
