ASC leader to know: SurgCenter Development Founding Principal Dr. Gregory George

Gregory George, MD, PhD, is one of two founding principals of SurgCenter Development. He founded the company with Sean O’Neal in 1993. The pair launched the company after recognizing the need for surgeons to have more control over their practice, including daily schedule, surgical time, operating room protocols and surgical staffing.

With Dr. George being a key leader at SurgCenter Development, the company has developed more than 105 physician-owned ASCs

An ophthalmologist, Dr. George earned his medical degree from Durham, N.C.-based Duke University. He has a PhD in ocular physiology which he also obtained at Duke.
