Trump’s proposed budget includes $800B Medicaid cuts: 4 things to know

President Donald Trump is proposing a budget that will cut Medicaid by $800 billion, according to CNN.

Here are four things to know:

1. The cuts assume the American Health Care Act comes to fruition.

2. The AHCA would eliminate funding to states that expanded Medicaid in 2020. Through the Medicaid expansion plan the ACA created, 11 million Americans have gained coverage.

3. By 2026, the bill would lower federal Medicaid support by 25 percent.

4. A recent Congressional Budget Office report found the bill would result in 14 million fewer Americans enrolling in Medicaid by 2026.
