Here’s what you should know.
1. The CDC estimates there are approximately 28.6 million uninsured people in 2016, the same as in 2015.
2. Since 2010, the number of uninsured Americans has shrunk by approximately 20 million.
3. The CDC estimates 12.4 percent of uninsured adults are between 18 and 64-years-old. Twenty percent of those adults have public coverage and 69.2 percent have private coverage.
4. Concerning children ages 0- to 17-years-old, the CDC estimates approximately 5.1 percent of children are uninsured, 43 percent have public coverage and 53.8 percent have private coverage.
