Here are five key points:
1. A decision was set for early July following a final public hearing in April.
2. The board pushed this date back after three board members failed to reach a consensus over the certificate-of-need application.
3. Several months ago, two board members left, leaving the board with three members. Five board members comprise the Green Mountain Care Board.
4. Amy Cooper, a principle of the ASC proposal, told Burlington Free Press, “This has been a very long process already.” The surgery center’s proponents have waited for a decision since filing the CON nearly two years ago.
5. Opponents include Vermont Association of Hospitals, claiming the ASC will boost costs and provide unnecessary duplicate services.
