Survey says 33% of providers using telehealth services

A HIMSS Analytics survey says approximately 75 percent of providers have virtual care incentives in place and 33 percent of providers use remote patient monitoring services, Healthcare Informatics reports.

HIMSS surveyed 147 healthcare executives about virtual care services adoption rates. The survey also explored the top challenges hospitals and healthcare systems face in digital health.

Here’s what you should know.

  • Plans to expand remote monitoring use — 48 percent
  • Plans to expand services in future — 44 percent
  • Uses remote patient monitoring — 34 percent
  • Uses video service — 31 percent

Approximately half of the respondents had clinician-to-clinician consults over video monitoring services.

Concerning virtual care initiatives roll out rates:

  • Organizations just beginning virtual care services — 45 percent
  • Early program investments with less three full time employees dedicated to support — 29 percent
  • Has a sustainable virtual care program — 22 percent
  • Virtual care initiatives were sustainable — 18 percent
  • Have advanced programs — 5 percent
