Here are four things to know:
1. Aetna is the second payer to report it is exiting the state ACA exchange. Earlier this week, Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Wellmark said it is ceasing selling individual plans next year due to the ACA’s uncertain future.
2. In an email with Bloomberg, an Aetna spokesperson said the company is exiting the exchange in 2018 due to financial risk.
3. The company spokesperson said Aetna is assessing its individual plans in other states.
4. With Wellmark and Aetna’s departures, 94 of Iowa’s 99 counties will have a single payer selling through the national exchange in November 2017, according to Vox.
