GI leader to know: Dr. Brennan Spiegel of Cedars-Sinai

Brennan Spiegel, MD, is a gastroenterologist and the director of Health Services Research at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

He specializes in celiac disease, colonoscopy, irritable bowel syndrome and others.

Dr. Spiegel began his career after earning his medical degree from New York City-based New York Medical College. He completed a residency at Cedars-Sinai and a fellowship at UC Los Angeles. He earned his master’s degree from UC Los Angeles.

He is the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Gastroenterology and is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Onalytica named him one of its Top 100 Influences of digital health and virtual reality. He has authored more than 160 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has published several textbooks.

Dr. Spiegel’s research team receives funding from the National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Hearst Foundation, Veterans Administration and several industry sources.
