Healthcare is in a period of near constant change, and as Congress debates the American Health Care Act healthcare organizations must continue providing care. Here are six key notes on leading through change.
1. Articulate the defined vision with simple and authentic messaging and repeat that message throughout the organization.
2. Achieve alignment with the vision so all team members are spending the right amount of time and energy adding value to the organization.
3. The leader should be aligned with the organization’s goals and make a continuous effort to motivate and inspire others to move in the same direction. Mr. Gleeson recommends establishing “quick wins” to show progress is possible and motivate further achievement.
4. Put plans into action with established timelines and milestones to stay on track.
5. Organize and budget around the new system development to ensure you have the structure to support the new vision.
6. Be ready to navigate obstacles with flexibility; the plan will see roadblocks and leaders will need to make adjustments accordingly.
