Senate will present obstacle for American Health Care Act: 6 considerations

The American Health Care Act — the Republicans’ ACA replacement plan — faces an uncertain future in the Senate, according to The Hill.

Here are six considerations:

1. The bill will be up against a Senate with 52 GOP seats, allowing for a loss of two GOP votes, since Vice President Mike Pence can break the 50-50 tie.

2. The Hill reports eight GOP senators have already spoken out against parts of the bill.

3. Some conservatives are concerned about funding various parts of the legislation while others are against Medicaid expansion cuts.

4. Democrat senators voiced they will continue to oppose the legislation.

5. Vice President Pence said President Donald Trump is in support of the American Health Care Act, but will allow changes.

6. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., plans to bring the legislation to the Senate floor by the week of March 27, 2017.
