NJ Department of Banking and Insurance proposes amendments to the personal injury protection fee schedule

New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance has proposed a limited amendment to the personal injury protection fee schedule, reports Jeff Shanton, vice president and chair of government affairs for NJAASC.

Below are the four main bullet points:

1. 4.4% inflation adjustment in all fees

2. Technical amendments to the CPT codes to reflect technical changes in the CPT Code Manual. DOBI will utilize CPT 2016.

3. Adding the 2015 spine codes that were placed on the ASC approved List by Medicare to the PIP Fee Schedule.

4. Raise the threshold for in-person arbitrations from $1,000 to $2,000

Pursuant to Governor Chris Christie’s Executive Order 2, DOBI circulated this proposal formally to select stakeholders for comment, prior to commencing the formal rulemaking process.
