The center will be staffed by employed physicians, but the health system also plans to explore joint venture arrangements with independent physicians in the region, according to the release.
West Penn Allegheny’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery will relocate to the Peter’s Township location from its current offices in the Southpointe area of Pittsburgh.
“As more and more patients seek healthcare services that are closer to home and medicine continues its rapid progress into the outpatient setting, it is imperative that our system evolves accordingly and invests in programs and facilities that best meet the needs of our patients and the communities we serve,” Patrick DeMeo, MD, chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, said in the release.
