East Carolina University offers simulation center to boost patient safety: 4 points

The Simulation Center at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., offers medical students a chance to practice in a clinical setting, according to The East Carolinian.

1. The center is home to $4 million in medical training equipment, including high fidelity simulators, task trainers, models and computers.

2. Medical students are filmed while training, which can be viewed in other rooms. The instructors then review the videos with students.

3. Skip Robey, MD, directs the Clinical Simulation Program and Center.

4. Dr. Robey noted the center is intended to promote clinical excellence as well as patient safety.
