Here are five things to know:
1. In 2009, just 38 percent of the pharmaceutical firms surveyed reported compensation caps. That number increased to 49 percent by 2015.
2. For the 2016 data, around 55 percent of the large companies reported maintaining compensation caps, which are more common in the larger companies.
3. More countries around the world are implementing fair market value requirements and transparent reporting of healthcare providers’ compensation; as a result, its predicted compensation cap policies will continue in the future.
4. Over the past two years, 85 percent of companies report no more than 5 percent of the healthcare providers who receive compensation got more than the annual cap.
5. Nearly half — 45 percent — of companies reported not exceeding their caps at all over the past two years.
