1. Mr. Allen is HIV positive and the theft raised concerns that he may have infected hundreds of patients through contaminated needles.
2. He worked at various hospitals throughout the United States, with Denver-based Swedish Medical Center firing Mr. Allen in January 2016 after another employee witnessed Mr. Allen switching a fentanyl syringe for one containing saline.
3. Mr. Allen also worked at Lakewood Surgery Center (N.J.) and Naval Hospital Bremerton (Wash.), among several other facilities.
4. The facilities said they are testing patients to ensure they are safe.
