Despite CMS releasing final MACRA rule, 28.6% of physicians have never heard of it — 4 statistics

A good number of physicians have never heard of CMS’ Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, which aims to tie payment to quality outcomes and move away from a fee-for-service payment system, according to Healthcare Dive.

Here are four statistics:

1. A recent Medscape September 2016 study found 28.6 percent of physicians have not heard of MACRA.

2. The survey also found 39.2 percent of providers have heard of MACRA, but are not well-versed in the ins and outs.

3. Medscape found 40.2 percent of physician respondents have not heard of Merit-Based Incentive Payment System.

4. A reported 34.9 percent of physicians reported hearing of MIPS, but not knowing a great deal about it.
