Here’s what you should know.
1. The company’s third quarter earnings jumped 86 percent to $10.8 billion from $5.8 billion.
2. Centene is attributing the growth to its acquisition of Health Net and to Medicaid expansion.
3. The insurer’s net earnings increased from $107 million in 2015’s Q3 to $194 million in 2016.
4. Enrollment in the insurer’s Medicaid program grew rapidly. It was at 442,600 in 2015 and is now slightly over a 1 million members. That growth is reflected in its general enrollment as well. In 2015, Centene had 4.8 million members; it’s now at 11.4 million.
5. CEO Michael Neidorff said the company’s experience with the ACA “continues to be favorable.”
