New York University Lutheran tapped Ioannis “Yanni” Hatzaras, MD, to lead its surgical oncology outreach program.

1. Dr. Hatzaras has been a member of the center’s faculty since 2013.

2. Throughout his career, Dr. Hatzaras specialized in gastrointestinal cancers, sarcomas and melanoma.

3. H. Leon Pachter, MD, chair of the department of surgery and Kenneth M. Rifkind, MD, chief of surgery at NYU made the selection because Dr. Hatzaras “has proven to be an extremely gifted surgical oncologist.”

4. In addition to his practice, Dr. Hatzaras is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons.
