1. Blue Cross Blue Shield was originally going to exit the exchanges, but after Aetna announced its departure Blue Cross Blue Shield “re-evaluated” its decision.
2. The insurer still needs final approval from the Arizona Department of Insurance and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
3. In Maricopa County, Arizona’s largest, seven insurers said they’d exit the exchanges. Cigna is the lone provider for 126,000 residents.
4. Blue Cross Blue Shield still will be in 14 of Arizona’s 15 counties, and it’ll be the only option in 13 counties. Maricopa is its lone county it is withdrawing from.
