Dix Psychiatric Center retains Joint Commission accreditation: 3 thoughts

The Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center, of Bangor, Maine, earned its accreditation after the Joint Commission conducted an unannounced three-day review, The Daily Progress reports. Here are three thoughts.

1. The center is one of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services psychiatric hospitals.

2. The center first earned accreditation in 1988.

3. The center is a 51 bed psychiatric hospital serving two-thirds of the state’s geographic area. It provides services for patients with mental illness. The center provides both inpatient and outpatient care.
