Humana has announced that is has signed an agreement to
purchase Metcare Health Plans, a subsidiary of West Palm
Beach, Fla.-based Metropolitan Health Networks, for an estimated $14
million.

The acquisition of Metcare’s AdvantageCare, a Medicare
Advantage health plan, is expected to give Humana’s Medicare Advantage
membership an increase of approximately 7,000 members in 13 Florida counties, according to a press
release from Humana.

The transaction is still subject to regulatory approval.
