St. Luke’s Hospital ASC to create 300 jobs for local community: 4 things to know

Northampton County Council approved a financing agreement with Easton, Pa.-based St. Luke’s Hospital to build an ambulatory surgery center at its Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township, according to WFMZ-TV.

Here are four things to know:

1. St. Luke’s expects the ASC to bring in an additional 300 jobs to the area. The hospital said each job, on average, earns $60,000 annually.

2. For the surgery center, the hospital submitted a request to refinance debt incurred in 2008, and to also borrow an additional $85 million through Northampton County’s General Purpose Authority.

3. In 2008, St. Luke’s raised $175 million through the General Purpose Authority’s hospital revenue bonds to construct the Anderson Campus.

4. The 75,000-square-feet ASC will house six operating rooms.
