Anesthesiologist Named New President of Massachusetts Medical Society

Alice Coombs, MD, of Sharon, Mass., an anesthesiologist and critical care physician at South Shore Hospital, has been named as president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, according to a report in The Boston Herald.

Dr. Coombs will oversee the organization of 22,000 physicians, residents and medical students in Massachusetts, according to the report.

Other new leadership includes President-Elect Lynda Young, MD, a pediatrician at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Children’s Medical Center, and Vice President Richard V. Aghababian, MD, a professor of emergency medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
