Dr. Desmond Thio joins The Joint Commission’s board of directors: 5 key notes

DeltaHealth Hospital and DeltaHealth Clinic in Shanghai, China, CEO Dr. Desmond Thio joined The Joint Commission’s board of directors.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Thio:

1. Dr. Thio has been president and senior vice president at Philips Healthcare Greater China and was responsible for business operations in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

2. During his career, Dr. Thio has overseen diagnostic imaging, image guided therapy, ultrasound patient monitors and hospital informatics modalities.

3. He previously held executive positions at Pagoda Pharma Group China, Abbott International USA and Pharmacia.

4. Dr. Thio earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Business Administration in Applied Economics from the University of Versailles, INSEEC and Tsinghua University. He completed his doctor of medicine degree at Mundial University.

5. The board of directors includes 17 members from the healthcare field.
