Here are the three award winners:
1. Maureen Barrett, MPAS, PA-C, of Betehmem, Pa., won The AAPA/PAEA Preceptor of the Year Award for her dedication to clinical education of PA students as a mentor and instructor.
Ms. Barrett serves as the chief PA for St. Luke’s University Health Network, establishing a PA shadowing internship program that offers students more than 70 hours of shadowing time.
2. Col. Rene’ Chadwell, U.S. Air Force, BSC, MPAS, PA-C, of San Antonio, received The AAPA Military Service PA of the Year Award for advancing military healthcare services as well as enhancing patient care and patient education.
Col. Chadwell serves as chief PA consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General. As an OB/GYN instructor for future PAs, she established a preventive care tracking, training and education system that reduced health risks for female patients.
3. Alicia Quella, PhD, MPAS, PA-C, of St. Paul, Minn., won The AAPA Publishing Award for her article about PA compensation as well as PAs’ and NPs’ influence on the healthcare market.
