Zvi Weizman, MD, from the pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition unit at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, and colleagues studied 93 children diagnosed with functional abdominal pain.
Here are three points:
1. After four weeks of intervention, the number of pain episodes was almost halved among the children supplemented with one L. reuteri Protectis tablet per day compared to the placebo group.
2. The severity of pain was also significantly reduced in the probiotic group compared to placebo.
3. BioGaia is a biotechnology company in Sweden that develops, markets and sells probiotic products.
