California ASCs are currently reimbursed at 120 percent of the Medicare HOPD rate, and a switch to calculating reimbursement using ASC rates represents a 40-50 percent cut in reimbursements to ASCs.
CASA has objected strongly to this approach and has provided written comments to DWC.
DWC recently announced it will be holding a public stakeholder meeting to receive input on the issue. CASA is encouraging those in the ASC industry to attend. The meeting will be held Thursday, May 27 from 10am-12pm at the Elihu M. Harris State Office Building, Room 2, in Oakland, Calif. Interested parties should RVSP for to meeting by contacting Maureen Gray at mgray@dir.ca.gov or (510) 286-0676.
