Here are five points:
1. The outpatient center will house a small area for patients requiring an overnight stay.
2. If a patient needs care for more than 23 consecutive hours, the ASC will transfer the patient to another U of M facility.
3. U of M’s 313,000-square-foot ambulatory facility will offer more than 40 medical specialties and will have ample space for expansion.
4. Construction is set to begin in 2017, and the facility is projected to open in early fall of 2018.
5. U of M does not require any type of approval from the city to move forward with plans.
