Survey highlights benefits of private health plans: 5 observations

More Americans believe private health plans offer enhanced access and higher quality of care, based on a Health Insurance Authority report, according to RTE News.

The MillwardBrown survey received responses from 1,832 consumers in 2015.

Here are five observations:

1. Although the number of Americans with private health plans decreased between 2009 and 2013, it increased in 2015.

2. The study found consumers have been with their private plans for an average of 14 years.

3. About one in four consumers have switched plans at some point.

4. Consumers with private health plans reported increased satisfaction levels.

5. Policyholders reported they would end their coverage due to financial issues, like a job loss.
