AmSurg proposes public offering of 5.5M common stock, SCA Q3 revenue up 19% & more — 4 key notes on ASC companies

Surgical Care Affiliates reported a 19 percent revenue increase year-over-year in the third quarter of 2015, and the company’s operating income reached $58.7 million, up 22 percent. The company’s net income for the quarter was $118.6 million.

On Nov. 30, AmSurg proposed an underwritten public offering of 5.5 million shares of its common stock. The company plans to use the net proceeds from the offering to repay outstanding debt under its revolving credit facility borrowed to fund its recent acquisition. AmSurg also intends to use the net proceeds to fund a portion of the nearly $500 million of acquisition opportunities in its pipeline.

Sheridan, the physician services division of AmSurg, acquired Premier Emergency Medical Specialists. Premier Emergency Medical Specialists is comprised of 49 physicians who provide emergency services for Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, both located in Arizona.

During the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, Hospital Corporation of America shares traded at $67.20 per share, down 3 percent.
