Open enrollment in New York health insurance exchange begins Sunday — 4 things to know

With open enrollment on the state’s exchange beginning Sunday, Attorney General Eric. T. Schneiderman encourages New Yorkers to compare and evaluate health insurance plans, according to Newsday.

Here are four things to know:

1. Today, the attorney general released a brochure titled “Shopping For Health Insurance Coverage.”

2. The brochure will be distributed through the attorney general’s regional offices, on the website ag.ny.gov and through various social media platforms.

3. New Yorkers should consider determining if they are eligible for a premium subsidy through the marketplace to make coverage more affordable, as subsidies are only available through the state’s exchange.

4. The attorney general advises consumers to ensure their current physicians and hospitals are in the exchange plan.
