ASA named Dr. Evan Kharasch editor-in-chief of Anesthesiology: 5 quick facts

The American Society of Anesthesiologists named Evan Kharasch, MD, PhD, the new editor-in-chief of Anesthesiology, the official journal of the ASA.

Here are five quick facts:

1. Dr. Kharasch will assume the role of editor-in-chief elect on January 1, 2016, and will take on full editorial responsibility on July 1, 2016.

2. Dr. Kharasch is a professor in the department of anesthesiology and director of the division of clinical and translational research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

3. He also chairs the ASA Committee on Research and serves on the executive committee of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research.

4. He has published more than 235 peer-reviewed manuscripts, several book chapters, and was co-editor of two textbooks on anesthetic pharmacology.

5. Dr. Kharasch will succeed James C. Eisenach, MD, who served as the journal’s editor-in-chief for the past 10 years.
