ASA names DeLaine Schmitz Anesthesia Quality Institute executive: 4 things to know

The American Society of Anesthesiologists named DeLaine Schmitz executive of the Anesthesia Quality Institute.

Here are four things to know:

1. Ms. Schmitz most recently served as director of quality for The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

2. She has also previously served as director of quality of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

3. The Anesthesia Quality Institute was established by ASA in 2008 to enable practice-based quality management through education and quality data feedback.

4. As AQI executive, Ms. Schmitz will develop a plan to achieve the institute’s defined strategic direction and identify needed resources.
