Athens-Limestone Hospital receives CON approval for $30M surgery center: 5 key points

The Alabama Certificate of Need Board has approved Athens (Ala.)-Limestone Hospital’s application for a $30 million surgery center, according to an al.com report.

Here are five things to know about the project.

1. The new facility will house the surgery center, imaging services, laboratory services and physician office space.

2. The surgery center will include six operating rooms.

3. The project was not formally contested by any other providers during the CON process, according to the report.

4. The facility will be approximately 90,000 square feet.

5. The hospital expects construction will take two years, according to the report.
