Dr. Whitcomb has a professional interest pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, hereditary pancreatitis, genetics and physiology. He has received more than two decades of continuous funding from NIH for research on paradigm-shifting models including equation-based models for pancreatic duct fluid secretion as well as clinical models for personalized medicine. He has authored more than 200 scientific articles and edited eight books.
Dr. Whitcomb earned his medical degree at Ohio State University in Columbus. He completed his residency and a gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
