1. The free app allows parents to check if their baby’s stool is the normal color. The app correctly identifies normal stools and high-risk stools.
2. Available on both Apple and Android phones, the app can also store results for future and comparative reference. Parents can also email a photo to their pediatrician through the app.
3. Biliary atresia affects one in 14,000 newborns each year.
4. Douglas Mogul, MD, a pediatric gastroenterologist at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, was the lead author of the study examining the app that was published online in PLOS ONE.
