Dr. Shields’ research interests include the effects of radiation and chemotherapy for breast cancer, lung cancer and lymphoma on the distal esophagus. Her work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, such as Digestive Diseases and Sciences, Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She has previously won the Distinguished Educator Award from AGA.
Dr. Shields earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and completed a residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship at University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia.
