Baylor children’s hospital closes plans to focus on outpatient care — 5 key facts

Baylor children’s hospital is closing on Sept. 8 with Baylor Scott & White Health planning to focus solely on outpatient care in the future, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

Here are five key facts:

1. The closing of the hospital will result in the layoff of 181 employees.

2. Baylor Children’s House’s Dallas facility will be replaced by a new outpatient facility in Dallas.

3. Inpatient care will continue through the transition for children currently receiving inpatient treatment at the hospital.

4. Children’s House opened as Baylor Pediatric Center for Restorative Care in 1993.

5. Since its opening, the hospital has added nine outpatient clinics across northern Texas where children from infancy to 18 years old can receive treatment for disorders, severe illness as well as traumatic injury.
