Here are five things to know:
1. The light fixture was manufactured through a licensing agreement with the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, who developed the technology.
2. The fixture uses a visible indigo-colored light at a 405 nn output, called a High-Intensity Narrow Spectrum light, producing a chemical reaction within bacteria.
3. Kenall’s CEO, Jim Hawkins, believes this light is a breakthrough in helping reduce HAIs.
4. The light requires no operator, advertises to kill bacteria in the air and on the all surfaces, and complies with international patient safety standards.
5. Kenall is set to start commercial production on the technology immediately.
