Here are five things to know:

1. vRad is a radiology physician services and telemedicine company.

2. MEDNAX acquired the company for $500 million.

3. The company includes a network of more than 350 radiologists and provides radiology coverage to more than 2,100 healthcare facilities.

4. vRad’s current management team will remain with the company as part of MEDNAX.

5. The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2015.
