TouchCare launches on Android, improves interface

TouchCare, a mobile health application allowing physicians and patients to securely connect remotely through private face-to-face video calls on their smart devices, is now available on Android devices. The company has also announced a new version with a redesigned interface enabling a provider to download the app as well.

“TouchCare is designed to work with physicians’ existing scheduling, charting and billing functions without changing workflow. A doctor can invite patients to connect in the app and schedule appointments in seconds. Using TouchCare makes it incredibly easy to offer real-time, personal video as an alternative to patients always needing to come into the office,” said Dov Cohn, SVP pf product development at TouchCare. “Since TouchCare is a free app, providers who are unfamiliar with telemedicine or mobile video calls can easily try it out and learn how to incorporate video into their practice. The key is that TouchCare connects people with their own physicians, marrying both convenience and continuity of care.”

Echoing the importance of connecting people with their own physicians via m-health was Kevin Biese, MD, MAT, assistant professor of emergency medicine and internal medicine and residency program director at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.

In a Becker’s interview with Dr. Biese, who uses TouchCare in his practice, he said; “Using mHealth as a tool for the provision of quality care is going to be invaluable to providers as they deliver continuous, value based care. If we don’t implement m-health, someone else will, and then our patients probably won’t get the care they need.”

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
