GI physician leader to know: Dr. Daniel Podolsky of UT Southwestern Medical Center

Daniel K. Podolsky, MD, has been the president of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas since 2008. As president, he holds the Phillip O’Bryan Montgomery Jr. MD, Distinguished Presidential Chair in Academic Administration. Additionally, he is a professor of internal medicine and the Doris and Bryan Wildenthal Distinguished Chair in Medical Science.

Previously, he was the chief of gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Podolsky has research interests in the delineation of epithelial cell function. His research has provided insight into inflammatory bowel disease. He has authored more than 300 original research and review articles over the course of his career.

Dr. Podolsky earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital.
