AGA Tech Summit: What’s new in colonoscopy alternatives?

The American Gastroenterological Association recently held its sixth annual AGA Tech Summit. Colonoscopy alternatives were one of the key topics discussed, according to a GI & Hepatology News report.

David A. Lieberman, MD, discussed colonoscopy and how alternatives are a work in progress at the summit. Alternatives, such as fecal immunochemical testing and stool DNA testing exist, but these tests have yet to be perfected.

Dr. Lieberman also discussed the possibility of using serum testing to risk stratify patients, as well as the role pill camera endoscopy has to play.
