The articles detail the development and impact of the Web-based Tailored Intervention Preparation for Surgery — WebTIPS — project, an interactive website which provides information and strategies to help children and parents prepare for surgery and anesthesia.
An initial evaluation shows that WebTIPS reduced outpatient surgery anxiety for both parents and children. The evaluation showed that on entering the operating room, children’s anxiety scores were substantially reduced if they had first been shown what to expect WebTIPS. Parents also rated the website as helpful and easy to use.
