New Jersey payers fight for OON payment reform

New Jersey payers have joined together to call for reform of the state’s regulations requiring them to cover emergency and involuntary out-of-network treatment, according to a HealthcareDIVE report.

Payers are arguing the regulations cause providers to substantially raise prices. Reform efforts could include setting a fee schedule, or state set payment benchmarks, according to the report.

On the other hand, the New Jersey Hospital Association has been fighting to prevent changes to current regulations.
