The suit claims Olympus failed to take critical steps in the reprocessing protocol with the redesigned Q180V scope, according to Santa Monica Mirror, and gave hospitals and physicians the safety cleaning protocol for an older endoscope which made the sanitization of the new design ineffective.

UCLA notified 179 patients who underwent endoscopic procedures between October and January they may have been exposed to CRE, reports the Santa Monica Mirror, who also note officials at the hospital traced infections to Olympus scopes.

The Santa Monica Mirror reports at least two other lawsuits related to the Superbug outbreak were filed against Olympus in February.
