Mark Gettleman, MD, a pediatrician in Phoenix who uses telemedicine frequently, says that the new trend is beneficial in a number of ways, not the least of which is that diagnosis of infectious diseases such as measles can be done without potentially infecting others in a waiting room.
State and national healthcare organizations are seeing the benefits of telemedicine, however, they also stress that this new trend does not mean that the physician-patient relationship is not important, according to the report.
