The warranty will protect patients, insurers and employers from additional costs incurred by surgical complications, should they occur. It is part of a bundled-service contract, and covers diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation.

The hospital is the first in the state of Washington to offer a joint replacement warranty, according to a news release.

Virginia Mason Hospital opened its 10-OR surgery center this month, according to a Pudget Sound Business Journal report.
